The Minneapolis Police Bomb Squad was called into the Eden Valley City Hall to secure an explosive device Tuesday morning.

The Eden Valley Police Department reported that someone brought an explosive device to the City Hall/Police Department building around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Meeker County Sheriff’s Department.

Two people were injured in a two-vehicle accident Friday afternoon at the intersection of Ripley Street and CSAH 34 Friday.

The accident occurred around 4:45 p.m. Friday. Norman Rust of Litchfield and Linda Edmison of Mayer were injured. The extent of their injuries is unknown but one was transported to Meeker County Memorial Hospital, according to the Sheriff's Department.

Litchfield Police cited eight teens for minor consumption of alcohol at an East 2nd Street residence around 1:40 a.m. Saturday.

Police were called to the residence on a noise complaint where they cited six people from Litchfield and two St. Cloud men. All were 18 or 19 years old.

The police also arrested two Litchfield men, age 24 and 28, for probation violation. All will be appearing in Meeker County District Court on a later date.

A Litchfield teen was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center Thursday morning after a two-vehicle accident west of Kandiyohi.

Janeane M. Amos, 18, of Litchfield is reported to have non-life threatening injuries, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

The U.S. Marshals Service arrested a fugitive wanted for homicide and arson Friday morning in Litchfield.

Eight U.S. Marshals, assisted by the Litchfield Police Department and Meeker County Sheriff’s Department, executed a warrant for Enrique Arujo Aguirre, 32, of Litchfield, around 8 a.m. Friday. The warrant was out of San Diego, Calif.

Litchfield Police arrested a 36-year-old Litchfield man with domestic assault and fleeing a peace officer after a Friday morning incident.

Litchfield Police were called to a South Gorman Avenue residence at 5:45 a.m. for a possible domestic. Upon the officer’s arrival, the man came out of the residence and left the scene in a vehicle, Chief Patrick Fank said.

Two Litchfield drivers were OK following a Sunday afternoon at the intersection of East South Street and Hubbard Avenue.

The two-vehicle property accident occurred at 2:45 p.m. The first vehicle, a 1997 GMC, was driven by Diane Folsom of Litchfield. The second vehicle, a 2002 Chevrolet, was driven by Maria Degonzalez of Litchfield.

There was more than $1,000 damage, but no injuries were reported.

Litchfield Police are investigating a theft at Casey’s General store Jan. 24.

The theft was reported at 10:50 a.m. Jan. 24 and included money and merchandise. Chief Pat Fank said the investigation is ongoing and did not release the total value of the theft.

ST. PAUL- Minnesota law enforcement officers arrested 3,354 impaired drivers during a December-long enforcement campaign. DWI offenders had an average alcohol-concentration of 0.17, more than twice the legal limit of 0.08.

“Law enforcement alone cannot stop impaired driving behavior,” said Cheri Marti, director of the state’s Office of Traffic Safety. “As long as motorists continue to make irresponsible decisions, alcohol-related crashes will continue to account for one-third of the state’s annual road deaths.”
