A 21-year-old Annandale man died from injuries suffered in a traffic accident July 16 on Minnesota Highway 15 near Dassel.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Brett Thompson was driving his 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix at about 7:30 a.m. July 16 when it crossed the centerline and struck a semi-trailer. The accident happened one mile north of County State Aid Highway 21.
Thompson was taken to St. Cloud Hospital and later transported to Hennepin County Medical Center where he died later that day.
The driver of the semi-truck, Sally E. Jaeger, 51, of Richmond, was not injured.
Funeral for Thompson was Monday, July 21, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Annandale. Arrangements were with Dingmann Funeral Home in Annandale.
Thompson was a 2005 graduate of Annandale High School where he was a member of the football, basketball and baseball teams and National Honor Society. This past spring he had completed
his third year of college at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall and for the summer was doing an internship for the Department of Natural Resources in Hutchinson. He was a member of St. Ignatius Church, Kimball Express Baseball Team and Northern Migration Softball Team. He was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating.
