The Cosmos Space Festival celebrates its 40th annual year this weekend in Cosmos.
Events kick off Friday evening with Mini Rods at 6 p.m. and a street dance at the Cosmos Legion with “Clover” from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.
Saturday is a busy day with citywide garage sales, a PeeWee Ball tournament, a plane show, volleyball games, beer garden, magician, and entertainment and food stands in the park. An antique tractor show starts at 11 a.m. west of Peace Lutheran Church. Kiddie parade is set for 3:30 p.m. with lineup east of the water tower.
Fireworks will be shot off from the ball park at dusk.
Sunday’s events include a fireman’s pancake breakfast, a community worship service, pedal tractor pull and softball tournament. The Space Festival Parade is at 2 p.m., followed by the coronation of Little Miss Universe and Man in the Moon by 2007 royalty Briana DeMars and Skye Powers.
Kids games in the park include pony rides, a reptile garden, petting zoo and dunking booth. Wally Pikal will provide entertainment from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., alongside the Community Club pork chop supper.
