Two popular local area polka bands continue to gain popularity on “The Big Joe Polka Show,” seen in more than 40 million homes four times a week on the RFD-TV network.
The Air Compressors Concertina Band from Dassel and the Wally Pikal Band from Litchfield will join 30 other bands for a Polka Fest July 24, 25, 26 and 27 in Medina, Minn. Eight bands are scheduled to play each day, from noon to 9 or 10 p.m.
The bands will tape live for one hour, each playing 15 polkas and waltzes, to be aired at a later date on “The Big Joe Polka Show.” The public is invited to come, dance and see themselves on RFD-TV this fall.
The Air Compressors will do their first taping, while this will be a return engagement for the Wally Pikal Band.
