A Maple Grove woman was killed in a fatal accident Sunday in Cedar Mills.

The three-vehicle accident occurred shortly before 3:50 p.m. Sunday when a 1989 Lincoln Town Car broad-sided a 1999 Dodge Caravan while crossing Minnesota Highway 7 at County State Aid Highway 26. The impact caused the van to spin into oncoming traffic and strike a 2006 Saturn Ion, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

The 22-year-old woman, whose identity has not been released, was a passenger in the Saturn Ion.

The driver of the van - Anita Y. Vanderwege, 38, of Colorado Springs, Colo. - was taken to Hutchinson Area Hospital before being airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center where she is in critical condition.

Robert D. Scott, 78, of Hutchinson, who was driving the Town Car, was treated and released from Hutchinson Hospital. Alcohol was detected in his system, according to the State Patrol.

The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating. Meeker County Sheriff’s Office assisted.
