Litchfield Post Office and the National Association of Letter carriers will have their annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive this Saturday.
To participate, Litchfield residents simply need to leave nonperishable food and home care items in a bag by their mailbox. Letter carriers will pick up the bags and at the end of the day will deliver them to the Meeker County Emergency Food Shelf.
Litchfield letter carriers gathered 1,095 pounds of food last year, part of a national Stamp out Hunger drive that brought in 70.7 million pounds of food last year.
In addition to nonperishable food items, residents can donate laundry detergent, toothbrushes, tissues, dish soap, shampoo and toiletries.
Residents should receive a postcard in the mail this week that will provide additional information about the food drive.
