Monday, Apr. 7, is the re-scheduled date set for the first Greenleaf State Recreation Area (SRA) citizens advisory committee meeting.
The meeting, originally scheduled for Monday, March 31, but canceled due to weather, will run from 5 - 7:30 p.m. in the Meeker County courthouse basement in Litchfield.
Cathi Fouchi, Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Southern Region Planner at New Ulm, said individuals representing a variety of interest groups have been invited to attend the meeting. The committee will be charged with working with DNR officials to develop a comprehensive management plan for the recreation area.
“We are very pleased to have a group of 13 committed individuals who have agreed to serve on the committee to begin formulating a plan for the area,” Fouchi said. “We’re really looking forward to getting to work on all the nitty-gritty aspects of this exciting project.”
Interest groups ranging from hunting and fishing to camping, motorized vehicles, hiking, biking, bird watching, local government, landowners, youth groups and horse back riding are represented on the committee, Fouchi said.
