Eden Valley-Watkins High school graduate Ryan Rice will be featured in a special vocal concert, “Songs of Travel” at 7 p.m. April 5 at Ostmark Lutheran Church, rural Watkins.

Rice, a student at Drake University where he is a member of the choir, will perform a wide variety of musical styles and selections, including works by Handel, Donnoudi and Stephen Foster, together with “Shenandoah,” “Songs of Travel,” “The Water is Wide,” “Die Mainacht,” “The Lord’s Prayer,” “The Man of Lamancha” and “Ostmark.” Rice composed “Ostmark” in tribute to the dedication of the bell tower at Ostmark last summer.

Rice has sung with the Drake choir and chamber choirs, both audition choirs, throughout his university career. His senior recital is planned for April 27. He will graduate in May with a degree in communications, with a focus on public relations and advertising, together with a minor in music.

He is the son of Tim and Lori Rice, South Haven; the grandson of Gene and Jan Rice, Kimball; and the late Jean Benson Rice, late Ronald Greeley, and Valerie Greeley of Elk River.

Ostmark Lutheran Church is located 12 miles northeast of Litchfield, off Minnesota Highway 24; or 7 1/2 miles southeast of Watkins. For more information about the Rice concert or directions to the church, call (320) 693-8450.
