Several residences and a bar were evacuated Tuesday evening after a gas leak in Darwin.
Crews with Highland Construction struck the gas line buried underground near First Street and Pacific Street shortly before 6 p.m. Tuesday while drilling into the ground for power line poles, according to Meeker County Sheriff’s Department.
Dassel Fire and Rescue responded to the call and contacted Xcel Energy Co. to repair the line, as well as a second break in the same area.
A few individuals were advised to leave their residences, and also the Country Saloon was evacuated until repairs could be made. Xcel Energy Company was able to clamp the gas line and stop the leak.
