Sarah Brock earned first place in the District 7 American Legion High School Oratorical Contest Jan. 6 at Litchfield High School Auditorium.

Brock, a sophomore, earned a $750 scholarship for her win and also earned the chance to compete in the Minnesota competition Jan. 18.

Brock, 16, is the daughter of Greg and Melissa Brock of Litchfield. Her hobbies include basketball and softball. She also is in the jazz band and choir and enjoys making music on piano and guitar. She will compete for $6,000 in scholarships at the state level and for the opportunity to advance to the national competition.
