A pickup truck is believed to have started a garage fire north of Dassel Friday evening.

The Dassel Fire Department responded to the fire at 7:22 p.m. at the Carl Eckhoff residence on 262nd Street, Dassel. Eckhoff informed the Meeker County Sheriff’s Department that his 1994 Dodge pickup had caught fire, destroying the garage and contents, according to a Sheriff’s Department release.

The 24-by-36-foot garage was a total loss, as well as a Polaris snowmobile, pressure washer and miscellaneous tools and hunting decoys.
