The Tews Tailgating Fundraiser, planned to help the family of Jacob Tews pay for medical expenses, will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Litchfield High School football field before the football game.
Tews, a senior at Litchfield High School, suffered a spinal cord injury in a one-vehicle rollover accident Aug. 26. His 1993 Jeep left the road and rolled at about 7:25 a.m. on County Road 34, north of 260th Street, in east Litchfield, and he was ejected from the vehicle. Tews, 17, was airlifted to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale and underwent six hours of surgery the next day to fix three broken vertebrae in his back. The spinal cord injury affects his legs, and he has been going through rehabilitation.
The family has a Web site for friends and family to keep up with Jake’s progress: www.caringbridge.org/visit/jaketews [1].
An account has been established at Mid Country Bank for monetary donations.
