Johnson, Solbrack help Dragons roast RoyalsAugust 30, 2008 - 1:39am — Lyle DiekmannAaron Solbrack and Nic Johnson combined for 219 yards rushing and scored five touchdowns in Litchfield's 32-7 win over Watertown-Mayer in Wright County Conference football action Aug. 29. Johnson scored three times and finished with 110 yards on 21 carries. Solbrack had 13 carries for 109 yards. He also completed 6 of 12 passes for 82 yards. Defensive lineman Ryan Ackman recovered two fumbles for the Dragons, who yielded only eight first downs and 87 yards rushing to the Royals. Fellow running back Deron Buboltz, who played football for Buffalo Lake-Hector in 2007, ran for 163 yards and three scores in his ACGC debut. The Falcons (1-0) led 34-14 at halftime. The Crusaders, ranked No. 3 in Class AA, won the first two sets 25-23, 25-16 before the Dragons took Game 3, 28-26. St. Cloud closed with a 25-21 win in the finale. Litchfield setter Katlyn Kiehn registered 32 set assists and 15 digs. Courtney Euerle added a team-high eight ace blocks. Litchfield competes in the Eden Prairie Invitational on Aug. 30. Meyer hits hole-in-oneAugust 26, 2008 - 3:12pm — Lyle DiekmannMarland Meyer of Litchfield hit a hole-in-one Aug. 25 at Litchfield Golf Club. Meyer used a six-iron to ace the par-3 seventh hole, which measured 151 yards. Meyer’s hole-in-one was the first of his golfing career and the third at LGC this summer. Swim team fifth at Litchfield InviteAugust 26, 2008 - 3:09pm — Lyle DiekmannThe Litchfield girls swimming and diving team scored 260.5 points to finish fifth at the eight-team Hutchinson Invitational Aug. 23. Hutchinson won the meet with 602.5 points. Litchfield's Anna Dollerschell was the team's top performer, finishing third in diving. Litchfield's 200-yard medley and 200 freestyle relays both took fifth overall. The Dragons make their 2008 home debut when they play host to Minnewaska Area at 6 p.m. Aug. 28 at Litchfield High School pool. Buffalo sweeps girls tennis teamAugust 26, 2008 - 3:05pm — Lyle DiekmannBuffalo won matches at all seven spots, securing a 7-0 nonconference victory over the Litchfield girls tennis team Aug. 22 at Litchfield High School. Sally Nadeau and Mackenzie Rixe needed three sets to defeat Litchfield's Alyssa Holmgren and Anna Johnson 6-7 (5-7), 7-5, 6-3 at No. 2 doubles. Madalyn Nones edged Brittney Berning 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 at No. 4 singles. Litchfield is 1-3 in dual meets this season. Dragons go 1-2 at Litchfield quadAugust 26, 2008 - 3:02pm — Lyle DiekmannThe Litchfield girls tennis team went 1-2 during the Litchfield quadrangular Aug. 20. Litchfield defeated Redwood Valley 7-0 and lost 6-1 to Simley and 4-3 to Hutchinson. Lizzie Johnson and Ellie Black were 3-0 at No. 1 doubles for the Dragons (1-2). Chelsie McGraw and Brenna Johnson went 2-1 at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively. |
