Law enforcement officials are investigating the death of a 2-year-old girl who was found not breathing at an Eden Valley residence Monday.

The Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call around 2:40 p.m. Monday afternoon from a Maple Street residence in Eden Valley. Rescue crews arrived at the scene to find the girl not breathing, according to a news release from the Meeker County Sheriff Mike Hirman, Eden Valley Police Chief Ernest Junker and Meeker County Attorney Stephanie Beckman.

The toddler was taken to Paynesville Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, along with the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office and Eden Valley Police Department, are investigating the death.

Because it is an active investigation, authorities are not releasing much information about the incident. Meeker County Sheriff Mike Hirman said investigators are awaiting an autopsy report.
