Litchfield School District voters will be asked to rescind the district's current operating levy and replace it with a $600 per pupil levy during the general election in November.
School Board members voted Monday to place a question on the November ballot asking voters for the 10-year $600 levy. The levy will generate $1,278,714 a year for the district.
The levy would replace the district's current $300 per pupil levy, which has four years remaining. The new levy would increase district revenue by $636,139 annually.
The need for a new operating levy was reiterated Monday, as board members discussed the unforeseen factors which have depleted the district's general fund. Board chairman Dan Dollerschell said if the levy does not pass in November, the district must cut $300,000 from its 2009-10 budget.
