LHS to replace scoreboards; move old ones to middle school

Scores of Litchfield High School games in the gymnasium will be a little larger and brighter this sports season.

Two new scoreboards will be installed in the gymnasium in the coming week, said Litchfield Business Manager Todd Swanson as he updated School Board members Monday on the status of summer projects.

The two scoreboards are slightly larger and have brighter lights than the existing boards, which have been in the gym for almost 15 years. They also will have covers to protect them during the spring season when the high school baseball and softball teams practice in the gym.

The high school scoreboards will be moved into the Litchfield Middle School to replace the out-of-date boards in those two gyms. Swanson said the current high school scoreboards are still in good working condition, but it was decided to order new boards because of the high need of replacement at the middle school.

Swanson said the new boards cost about $10,000; funds to pay for them were taken from the district’s 2008-09 capital outlay budget.

The middle school scoreboards will be junked by the high school metals class.
