Alarms, maintenance can prevent carbon monoxide deaths

ST. PAUL — Carbon Monoxide is the leading cause of poisoning death in the U.S. The Minnesota Department of Health estimates that in just five years (2002–2006), 92 Minnesotans died from unintentional exposure to this colorless, tasteless, odorless gas. Prevention of CO deaths, according to State Fire Marshal Jerry Rosendahl, is a matter of knowledge, maintenance and adequate warning.

Read something into it

Reading is the key to unlocking untold worlds for your child, from scholastic and professional success to personal enrichment.

The challenge is figuring out ways to create a thirst for reading that will serve your children throughout their lives.

At a time when some 30 million U.S. adults function at the “below basic” level of literacy skill, according to ProLiteracy Worldwide, the importance of concentrating on reading at an early age cannot be over emphasized.

Books can help people accomplish their resolutions

The beginning of a new year is an opportunity to make a new beginning in our lives.

These new beginnings are articulated as resolutions. A resolution that will benefit anyone is to learn something new this year.

To that end, I would like to recommend some titles in the areas of money management, health and fitness, education and personal relationships and self improvement. Some of these titles may even help accomplish your resolution’s list.
