The Catholic Area Faith Community of the Good Shepherd, which consists of Church of St. Philip in Litchfield and Church of Our Lady in Manannah, will sponsor a “Parish Mission” Jan. 27-31.

The mission events are open to everyone, and refreshments will be offered after each evening service. Child care will be offered for families who need it.

The mission will consist of five consecutive evenings of prayer, singing and reflections in response to the preaching of the Rev. Vic Karls and the Rev. Jim Pham of the Redemptorist priests from Chicago. The Redemptorists have a long history of preaching parish missions in the United States.

During the mission, God’s Word is proclaimed through the Bible and through the life, learning and personal experience from the preacher. The main theme of the mission will be “Open Your Heart to Jesus.” The symbols, topics and goals of the preaching and reflections and renewal is different each evening. Each mission event begins at 7 p.m. and runs about 75 minutes.
