Proposed levy, 2007 budget on Litchfield City Council agenda
December 18, 2006 - 7:41am — Brent Schacherer
Litchfield City Council will continue a public hearing on its proposed property tax levy and 2007 budgets at 5:30 p.m. tonight. The proposed levy would jump from $1.7 million this year to $2 million in 2007. However, becuase of a growinig tax base the tax rate will actually decrease slightly — from 54.63 in 2006 to 54.62 next year. Most property owners will see a tax increase, though, as their property values are likely to increase. Also on tonight's agenda are variance requests from Norman and Judy Jones and Ronald Huggett. The Joneses seek a variance to allow placement of mobile homes on lots less than 5,000 square feet at Litchfield Mobile Home Park. Huggett wants to split a lot with less than 150 feet feet abutting a public road. The City Council also will review a lease for Civic Arena to be used as a senior nutrition site, and a new solid waste roll-off license fee.
