Fire/rescue hall on City Council agenda
January 21, 2008 - 9:25am — Brent Schacherer
A proposal to investigate property values for a fire and rescue hall will be discussed by the Litchfield City Council when it meets at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. A report by Ron Dingmann, a past rescue squad chief, suggests the city seek appraisals for properties in the 200 block of North Ramsey Avenue and 100 block of West Second Street. Estimated cost of the appraisals is $4,750. Dingmann explains in his report that he, Mayor Vern Madson and council member Gary Walz met with fire and rescue department personnel in October regarding property needs for a proposed joint fire/rescue hall. Those meetings and other investigation prompted a conclusion that the departments' needs would be best suited by building a hall on the block in which their two now-separate halls are located. See the Jan. 24 Independent Review for a report on the City Council's decision.
