The University of Minnesota will conduct two day-long “Corn College” workshops this month.
The day-long workshops are designed to provide participants with the latest applied information for managing aspects of corn production and livestock feeding.
The workshops are set for Dec. 19 at the University of Minnesota, Crookston Student Center and Dec. 20 at Minnesota State University Moorhead, Science Lab Building.

The Corn College involves in-depth, hands-on workshops designed for corn producers featuring top Extension and research specialists from the University of Minnesota and North Dakota State University.
The workshops begin at 8:30 a.m. with a presentation titled “Corn: Food, Fuel and Feed” by Marcia Taylor from DTN, a provider of market, news and weather information services for agricultural and energy markets. The rest of the session includes rotating lectures and labs.

* Cost of Corn Production — Bret Oelke and Bill Craig, U of M Extension
* Genetics and Agronomy — Zach Fore, Pioneer
* Alternative Feeds — Greg Lardy, NDSU Extension
* Grazing — Ryon Walker and Vince Crary, U of M Extension (Crookston only)
Lab topics include:
* Weed Control — Jeff Gunsolus, U of M Extension
* Growth Staging Corn — Dave Nicolai and Phil Glogoza, U of M Extension
* Corn Fertility — John Lamb and Russ Severson, U of M Extension
* Silage production — Greg Lardy, NDSU Extension
