Results of the levy referendum at Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City School District were not yet available as of about 11:30 p.m. today.

At 9:30 p.m., Superintendent Keith Redfield said from the district office that he expected the election judges to finish soon with counting the ballots. However, by 11:30 p.m., the election judges were still counting.

Voters in the ACGC School District cast ballots from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at ACGC Junior-Senior High School on a proposed operating levy. Voters were given one question to consider — whether to authorize the school district to revoke the existing levy of approximately $650 per pupil and replace it with a levy of about $1,075 per pupil.

If approved, the levy would increase district residents’ property taxes for seven years, starting with taxes payable in spring 2009. The levy would increase the district’s general fund revenue by approximately $437,000, beginning with the 2009-10 fiscal year.
