Nancy Larson’s phone has been ringing off the hook recently.

In the past month, the Dassel resident has received phone calls from President Clinton, Chelsea Clinton and former Secretary of State Madeline Albright. She’s also had offers of calls from famous Sen. Barack Obama supporters such as George Clooney.

On Super Tuesday, presidential nominee Sen. Hillary Clinton called asking for Larson’s support.

While Larson’s endorsement may not receive the same media attention as Ted Kennedy, John Glenn or Oprah Winfrey, her vote is just as critical to the two Democratic presidential hopefuls.

Larson is one of 14 Minnesota superdelegates who will vote at the Democratic National Convention in August. And with the Democratic nominees in a virtual deadlock in delegate count, it appears the final decision may come down to the party’s 795 superdelegates.

“I never gave it a thought what that free vote would be because it never came into play before,” said Larson, one of the approximately 400 uncommitted superdelegates. “This is something none of us ever expected.”
