The 22nd annual Antique Car Run from New London to New Brighton, Minn., will travel through Litchfield Saturday, Aug. 9.

Dozens of antique cars and motorcycles will make a stop in Litchfield’s Central Park around 9:30 a.m. Saturday. The cars and drivers will be announced before continuing on their 115-mile Grand Tour to New Brighton. All vehicles up through 1908 and any one- or two-cylinder vehicles through 1915 are invited to participate.

Darwin again will host the Twine Ball Celebration with many fun events planned for Aug. 9.

The day begins with a kiddie tractor pull at 10 a.m. followed by a parade at 12:30 p.m., and a tractor pull hosted by Minnesota Minn-e-rods at 2:30 p.m. There will be a pork chop dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. at the park in Darwin, and a raffle drawing with cash prizes will take place at 8 p.m. The evening will conclude with music in the park from 7 to 11:30 p.m. featuring “The Backroads.”

An Old Fashioned Hymn Sing will be held Sunday, Aug. 10, at Litchfield Church of the Nazarene, 422 N. Ramsey Ave. The event begins at 6 p.m. There will be quartets, trios, and duets, along with congregational requests of favorite songs. Sandi Huikko will be at the piano.

In honor of Minnesota’s 150th year of statehood, an 1850s-style camp meeting will be at 7 p.m. Aug. 14 at Windmill Park in Grove City.

This is the sixth “camp meeting” held around the state this summer.

Minnesota musicians and singers will present 19th century camp meeting and gospel songs on guitar, violin and flute. Jerry Seehusen, dressed in a 19th century suit, will give the sermon. Historian Steve Keillor, who wrote a history of Minnesota for the state sesquicentennial, will read letters from a soldier in the 1st Minnesota Regiment who died at Gettysburg.
