Commencement exercises for the Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City High School class of 2008 are set for 7 p.m. in the ACGC gymnasium in Grove City.
Sibley State Park will be host to a special Sesquicentennial Concert at 7 p.m. May 24. Charlie Maguire and special guest Ben Thoma will perform at Sibley State Park’s interpretive center.
Maguire, dubbed the state park Centennial Troubadour, will present the history of Minnesota through original songs and stories. Historian Thoma of Willmar will join Maguire on stage to share stories of Minnesota State Park history.
Admission to the concert is free. However, a state park vehicle permit is required to enter the park.
The annual Meeker County Memorial Day Picnic will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 26. Memorial Day has been a part of the G.A.R. Hall in Litchfield since 1885 as a way to observe the day.
A full meal of BBQ's, beans, hot dogs, chips, pie, ice cream sundaes and beverages will be served for $6. Pie, ice cream and a beverage is $3. Music by Terry Shaw.
Eden Valley-Watkins High School will hold its commencement exercises at 8 p.m. May 29 in the high school gymnasium in Eden Valley.
The last day of school for Litchfield Public Schools and the School of St. Philip will be June 4.
School was originally set to end June 5. Two snow days are built into the school calendar every year. Only one snow day was used this year, on April 11, so the year will end one day early.
The 2008 Concerts in Central Park performances will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. most Thursdays in the summer in the Bandstand.
