The annual Litchfield Community Theater meeting and fundraiser will be April 4 at the Farmer's Daughter in Litchfield. The evening begins with social house at 5:30 p.m., followed by a sit-down dinner. After dinner and a short meeting, entertainment will be provided by performers from the LCT stage. | ||

Wildlife and habitat lovers can experience the great outdoors Saturday at Habitat Day 2008 at the Litchfield Wetland Management District headquarters of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. A free, pre-cut wood duck house kit will be available for assembly on-site while supplies last (limit one per family). The Raptor Center of St. Paul will come with live birds, including a bald eagle. Meet some of Minnesota's raptors in person and learn how their role in the environment is important. Programs are at 12:30 and 3 p.m. | ||

Operating model railroads (at least six) in several sizes and scales (at least N, HO, S and O scale) will be on display during this fun, family event at the Hutchinson Mall, 1060 State Highway 15 S., Hutchinson. There also will be 15-20 tables of model railroad equipment and railroad memorabilia, books and videos for sale. Admission is free. Luce Line RR Club Inc. is a 100-percent National Model Railroad Association club with about 20 members. | ||

Join Dr. Gerald “Jerry” Wheeler in a discussion on the Civil War at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the G.A.R. Hall in Litchfield. Wheeler, a botanist and research associate at the Bell Museum of Natural History, has studied the Civil War for many years with special interest in espionage, cryptology, artillery and some of the more “esoteric” aspects of the War. Projects may include cleaning up city parks and lakeshore, reading to elementary students, painting at the Forest City Stockade, working at the Meeker County Emergency Food Shelf and reading and playing games with residents of Augustana Homes. | ||

Meeker County DFL will meet at 10 a.m. April 19 at Litchfield Public Library. The meeting is expected to run until 11:15 a.m. and will be followed immediately by a discussion on the immigration issue. The discussion is open to anyone. Start: 4:00 pm

Eden Valley-Watkins High School prom is Saturday, April 19. The grand march is at 4 p.m. at Eden Valley Elementary School gym. Doors open shortly before the grand march begins with a $2 charge. Students then will have a couple of hours to go out to eat before the dance in the Eden Valley-Watkins High School gym. The theme is “Three Wishes” with the dance from 8 p.m. to midnight. The annual after-prom party will be at Rockville Racquetball Club. | ||

Lake Ripley Elementary School’s Spring Art Show will be 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. April 24 at the school. The show, featuring artwork from kindergarten, second and third grade students, will include approximately 1,000 projects from different lessons and using many types of media. Most of the students will have at least two projects on display. Second and third grade projects will be displayed in the school gym, while kindergarten art will be displayed in the main hallway. | ||

Crow River Women of the ELCA will meet at 8:30 a.m. April 26 at First Lutheran Church in Litchfield. Sarah’s Harmony from Glenwood area will entertain after the business meeting. A brunch will be served at 11 a.m. Cost is $6. In-kind offerings will be sewing fabric for Lutheran World Relief and the conference offering will be divided between Shelter House of Willmar and fabric shipping costs for Lutheran World Relief. The Litchfield High School Prom will be held April 26. The “Night on the Red Carpet” will begin with Grand March at 4 p.m. in the high school gymnasium. The students will board buses for an evening at the Mall of America. The After Prom Party will be in the MOA Theme Park. Admission will be charged for the Grand March event. Start: 4:00 pm

Litchfield High School juniors and seniors will enjoy a “Night on the Red Carpet” April 26. This year’s prom will be in the Great Room at Mall of America in Bloomington, Minn. The grand march will be at 4 p.m. in the Litchfield High School gymnasium. Doors open at 3 p.m. with a door charge of $2 adults and $1 students. Following the grand march, students will board buses for Mall of America where they will have dinner and a dance. The after-prom party is also at the Mall of America in the Nickelodeon Universe amusement park. | ||
