Wildlife and habitat lovers can experience the great outdoors Saturday at Habitat Day 2008 at the Litchfield Wetland Management District headquarters of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. A free, pre-cut wood duck house kit will be available for assembly on-site while supplies last (limit one per family). The Raptor Center of St. Paul will come with live birds, including a bald eagle. Meet some of Minnesota's raptors in person and learn how their role in the environment is important. Programs are at 12:30 and 3 p.m. | ||

Join Dr. Gerald “Jerry” Wheeler in a discussion on the Civil War at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the G.A.R. Hall in Litchfield. Wheeler, a botanist and research associate at the Bell Museum of Natural History, has studied the Civil War for many years with special interest in espionage, cryptology, artillery and some of the more “esoteric” aspects of the War. Eden Valley-Watkins High School prom is Saturday, April 19. The grand march is at 4 p.m. at Eden Valley Elementary School gym. Doors open shortly before the grand march begins with a $2 charge. Students then will have a couple of hours to go out to eat before the dance in the Eden Valley-Watkins High School gym. The theme is “Three Wishes” with the dance from 8 p.m. to midnight. Lake Ripley Elementary School’s Spring Art Show will be 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. April 24 at the school. The show, featuring artwork from kindergarten, second and third grade students, will include approximately 1,000 projects from different lessons and using many types of media. Litchfield High School juniors and seniors will enjoy a “Night on the Red Carpet” April 26. This year’s prom will be in the Great Room at Mall of America in Bloomington, Minn. The grand march will be at 4 p.m. in the Litchfield High School gymnasium. Doors open at 3 p.m. with a door charge of $2 adults and $1 students. Following the grand march, students will board buses for Mall of America where they will have dinner and a dance. The after-prom party is also at the Mall of America in the Nickelodeon Universe amusement park. | ||
