Quote "Right now, there are many folks looking for work who would be delighted to work for 2,080 hours at the salary and benefits that teachers receive." Well then RUN, don't walk to your nearest college and enroll for 4 years (at least), pay tens of thousands and you, too, can have it sooooo easy! Some people will never get it.

The U of M has also announced a tuition hike. It is essentially the same story as above only with bigger numbers and info about the grad program. More signs of the times of our prosperous conservative state.

Tim Pawlenty seems to be

Tim Pawlenty seems to be doing his best to be a hardline conservative governor. I think his goal is to make Minnesota a prosperous ultra conservative state by abusing his powers, (unallotment).

Hopefully he succeeds and we end up a prosperous poster state like Mississippi. Everyone knows how great life is there! (Dripping With Sarcasm for the sardonically tone deaf.)

This is just another example

This is just another example of the way things work in government. We currently have a conservative governor with big political dreams and hopes for 2012. He knows that since Grover Norquist (google this guy if you have never heard of him) came to the scene no one in the republican party has been nominated without his endorsement (McCain may have bucked this trend last time around. I know this is one thing that has held him back in the past). YOu get and endorsement from Grover by vowing to never raise taxes for any reason, ever. If your resume backs up the claim then it is easier for Grover to believe you.

Now because our governor has decided not to raise taxes and just make cuts be prepared for a list of colleges and cities that will still be getting money from tax payers. Tuition hikes, and property tax increases will come. I've always seen this cause and effect relationship play out and that is why I still don't understand the antitax stand. I know that the powers that be will get the money they need regardless of the action, or inaction taken at the state and federal level.

Fortunately for Litchfield

Fortunately for Litchfield residents, the administration and City Council began preparing for possible Local Government Aid cuts late last year — around the time that Pawlenty decided unallot a chunk of LGA payments to cities and counties. In January, City Administrator Bruce Miller encouraged the City Council to take the stance that the city's regular LGA payment of about $1.8 million per year was going to be cut in half. With that in mind, department heads went into cost-saving mode and devised a plan to cut about $900,000 from the city budget — with about half coming from job cuts and the other half coming from operational savings.

According to a League of Minnesota Cities report released in January, Litchfield stood to lose $204,042 in LGA this year and another $426,075 in 2010. If that estimate holds true, the city should be ready to withstand the reduction.

We will post estimated LGA cuts for Meeker County cities as soon as they become available.

Thanks for the question

So what effects will the LGA

So what effects will the LGA cuts have on Litchfield/Meeker county residents? My guess is that our property taxes will rise once again. Pawlenty is the biggest liar when it comes to taxes. He calls new taxes, "fees", and forces the local governments to raise taxes, disproportionately affecting the middle and lower classes. I think Pawlenty needs to be recalled. A governor needs to be put in place who will work for the interests of all Minnesotans, not just those who live in the wealthiest suburbs. Historically, Pawlenty has been fiscally harder on out state Minnesota than any other governor in the history of the state. Throw the liar out!

Unemployment insurance is largely funded at the state level through specific taxes paid by employers in each state.4 An important feature of these state UI systems is the degree of “experience rating” in the system.

Unemployment insurance to cover your income is also available. You can insure your income for a specific monthly amount, which will enable you to live up to your earlier lifestyle. Unemployment insurance policies have certain basic conditions that have to be fulfilled before you become eligible for the benefits.

You say that people lost thier jobs because of the no vote in Nov Last summer Tow Master cut hours, Custom Products laid people off. With that thinking then everyone who has empolyment issues all comes down to the Nov vote One has nothing to do with the other. I do feel bad for the teachers Everyone is stressed in these times poeple who are working hoping to keep the job they have people not working hoping to find jobs Again the vote passed people are happy but do not say peoples jobs are safe because of a school levy passing The levy has nothing to do with my job, as it had nothing to do with companies in town down sizing again please I am begging you get your facts straight

I am talking about the

I am talking about the people who lost their jobs already because of the november no vote because of the lack of knowing the full picture. I think many of the people who voted no who attended the meetings were able to see where this money was going compared to last november. If they had had more of these meetings, those who lost their jobs would not of.

and it is my opinion that it has been corrected. many people now do not have to worry about losing their jobs, their homes, cars or anything else. their jobs for now are secured. I mean after all, how would you feel knowing people who did not know you and were refusing to take the time to know why the money needed to be spent for your job were voting no anyway and you were trying to brace for a firing? How do you tell your family that the job yhou have may be gone because of a no vote? I know if my husband's job was that way I would be stressed not knowing and then if I knew the people who were already fired or forced to retire and saw what diore straits they were in and then seeing the yes's won you would be thankful.Yes the economy is bad, but unemployment is bad and sorry but wal mart does not pay that much and their health insurance is outragiouse. I stand by my comment. If you dont like it that is your opinion.

Which is better, paying for someone to be incarcerated or paying for treatment to give someone a chance at becoming a productive member of society? This can be debated until the cows come home and I don't think there is an answer that works for everyone.

Well the levy passed No body in all of this wanted to see any one loose jobs but to say a "wrong has been righted" For someone to say that just goes to show how some people in the district feel they are entitled to things For you to say that is a bunch of BS Who was wronged in this? Who was righted in all of this? So what you are saying is that if a person voted no they are wrong and you can only be right if they agree with you I did think about some of the blogs on here last night after I voted and this am it is nice to know that I could get a good night sleep last night because someone will not be taking thier kids to Hutch

I know as some may read this they are angry with me but that is fine It is time to move on and complain about something else

I am very happy it passed as well. Now I do not have to worry about my son or daughter losing the programs they are in or the paraprofessionals they work with who have done such an awesome job with them. It is nice knowing that this time there were alot more informational meetings held to help clear up any misconceptions there was earlier. Our kids need our teachers and staff and programs. I am sorry that a few are not pleased, but now a wrong has been righted.
