Watercade was great, but

Watercade was great, but there are some things to improve. I am a proud member of the Litchfield Marching Dragons. I wish there would be a band competition, and more bands comming. I liked the new parade route, except on one block the sun was in my eyes, making it impossible to see, so maybe the parade route should go in the other direction. I would like to see Art in the Park in Central Park again. We should make the celebration through the whole city.

Thanks to the whole

Thanks to the whole Watercade Board for all your work. My husband and I called this the "Convection Oven Watercade" with the dry heat and wind. If only we could control
MN weather!!
I trully hope consideration is given to moving Art in the Park back to Central Park. Yes, Watercade has a lake focus but it is also a HUGE community event. I think having everything at the lake is not community focused. I talked to many senior citizens who did not go to the lake because they did not know where to park, how far they would have to walk, and were fearful of the uneven ground for walking. One couple told me this is the first year they did not support the Rescue Squad and they felt bad!
The kiddie parade was not a child-focused at the lake. Heat issues in the direct sun while waiting at Ripley, the route did not encourage people to sit and watch, and vendors were inconvienced when shoppers had to clear a path. The senior citizens and grandparents enjoyed chairs along the street and could sit in the shade on the old route!
I think the parade was moved for the right reasons and maybe there does need to be some fine tuning there!
The library will have a LARGE book sale at Crazy Days and NEW this year at the Meeker County Fair. If Art in the Park returns to Central Park, I am sure there will be consideration to Watercade weekend again!
All in all, Watercade is always great! Thanks to al who made it that way! Darlenelpl

Connie Lies
Thank you

Connie Lies
Thank you mnkitten for your response. I am glad it will work well for you. My concern was that it would not work for those on the new route or would interupt long standing plans of those on the old route. I also appluade you for allowing those who can not walk far a place to park. This allows more to enjoy the parade. Happy parade watching to you.

My home is on the new parade

My home is on the new parade route and I am thrilled! I have out of town guests for the parade every year and I also plan on inviting some elderly people who need a close parking option (my driveway) to be able to see the parade. I do have concerns about parking at the lake. Where do they plan on everyone parking out there?

Citizen
What will having all

Citizen
What will having all the events at the lake mean? Will it bring business to our downtown merchants? What about parking at the lake? What will all the people think and do that have their home set up for the watercade parade? What about the people now on the parade path, will they want the intrusion? What about the GAR will the events at the lake encourage people to tour and donate? What happens if the lake "stinks" again ( the reason it was moved)? I wonder if the benifits will pay for the losses?

I would like to hear from the business owners, parade route property owners, city crews and police department.

I think that's small beans

I think that's small beans considering people drive there from the Twin Cities for such a quality event. The Watercade is but a mere reflection of the quality of life the people enjoy in Litchfield..Don't like driving out of your way? Think of rush hour in the Cities.

Half of what makes Watercade

Half of what makes Watercade is having to drive 5 miles out of your way just to cross the Sibley...

Watercade changes

The 51st annual Watercade celebration in Litchfield is undergoing its share of changes, including a new parade route through residential areas instead of Sibley Avenue, moving Saturday activities all
