Forrest City Stockade
December 7, 2007 - 8:34am — winterhawk
This is directed to the powers that be at Forest City Stockade. My wife and I were there last year in December for their Holiday celebration and loved the place. We went again in August of this year for their Rendezvous. Now they were open again this year on the first weekend of December. Well as we all know.....IT SNOWED and was not a fit day for man or beast. My wife and I actually tried to drive to Litchfiend from Glencoe that morning but we never got past Hutchinson because the roads were so bad. We did not want to take unnecessary chances. I would think, that Forest City would take all that into consideration and try to open up another weekend before Christmas so that people might come and enjoy the activities. I know that we were told they are only open 2 times a year. What a waste. They could be open once a month and have people coming there. When we were there in August the place was packed. Think about it. I for one love historical events. And Forest City is one. Share it more with people. We really missed the Beef Stew this year...since we were not able to get up there.

Back to page topI agree with Winterhawk. The stockade and the thresher area across the road are truly a fantastic place. I was raised nearby and my parents are still there. Whenever I make it home I always like to drive by the stockade. It's sad that there are only two big events there a year!
